Whether you're a seasoned professional looking for a top-of-the-line full-frame DSLR with 4K video capabilities or you're just stepping up to your first professional camera, the Canon EOS 1D X Mark II deserves a serious look. And if you're already a devoted user of the original EOS 1D X, we think you'll appreciate all the refinements Canon's latest flagship camera has to offer. It retains its predecessor's shape, build, and ergonomic handling, but housed within that familiar sturdy dust- and moisture-resistant magnesium alloy body are some powerful and convenient new features and technologies — all geared toward increasing your productivity and maximizing the quality of your results.
Fast and focused
This is the fastest EOS 1D yet, thanks to Dual Digic 6+ image processors and high-speed recording to the CFast™ card slot. You can fire off consecutive shots at up to 14 frames per second, or up to 16 fps in Live View Mode. The improved 61-point autofocus system has a wider subject tracking area for better performance when subjects change speed and position. An impressive 360,000-pixel metering sensor lets the camera quickly recognize subjects for more precise autofocus, metering, and exposure compensation. Canon's Intelligent Tracking and Recognition system uses this information to provide more consistent autofocus on moving subjects.
A low-light dynamo
A 20.2-megapixel full-frame sensor enhances the EOS 1D X Mark II's low-light performance, with reduced noise in dark portions of an image, even at high ISO settings. The camera's high standard and expanded ISO range, high signal-to-noise ratio, and powerful noise reduction make it easier to shoot in different situations with changing light.
Improved tools for quick composition and viewing
The EOS 1D X Mark II's improved viewfinder can show more information on its LCD display, letting you compose your shot and change settings easily. Check autofocus, white balance, metering, and more, all while keeping your eye on your subject. Autofocus points are highlighted in red to make them easier to see, even with difficult ambient lighting. The addition of a touchscreen interface to the camera's rear LCD monitor adds some exciting capabilities. While shooting in Live View mode, you can switch AF points and magnify images right from the touchscreen. You can also use the touchscreen to protect and erase images quickly, and create slideshows with your images.
4K and Full HD video recording for videographers of all levels
You can capture smooth 4K video at up to 60 fps, thanks to the speed of the EOS 1D X Mark II's dual processors. This is also the first EOS camera to record Full HD at 120 fps, so you can capture details that are normally imperceptible to the human eye in slow motion video. If you're a less experienced videographer, the 1D X Mark II is easy to handle. Intuitive touchscreen operation lets you select AF points while the camera is rolling. You can rely on continuous autofocus for easy shooting, even during 4K recording. You can easily verify that 4K video recordings are sharply focused with 8.8-megapixel in-camera still frame grabs.
GPS and optional Wi-Fi for a better workflow
The EOS 1D X Mark II's built-in GPS system helps you tag your images with location data and automatically adjusts the time and timestamp settings. The camera can use GPS together with the WFT-E8A wireless file transmitter (not included) to quickly upload geotagged images when you're shooting in remote locations.
